NYPD EXPLORERS

We’d like to highlight our work with the NYPD Explorers. As part of this program, we work with diverse young men and women in the neighborhood. These yoga classes are tailored to embody the tenets of the Explorers Program including self-discipline, respect for diversity and human dignity.

Our goal with this program is to equip the future officers of our communities with the power to overcome the stress and trauma through breath, movement, and mindfulness. Each Explorers class is designed to create space and clarity, teaching the body and mind to slow down and observe instead of reacting.

On October 7th, some of our THAY Volunteers held a yoga program in Morningside Park to NYPD Law Enforcement Explorers and officers. This session not only strengthened ties between law enforcement and the community in which it operates, but it also provided a space for mutual understanding and respect
